Ibinahagi ng celebrity mom na si Coleen Garcia ang karanasan sa unang buwan matapos ang kaniyang panganaganak sa panganay nila ni Billy Crawford na si Amari noong ika-10 ng Setyembre 2020.
Inamin ni Coleen na nagkaroon siya ng postpartum anxiety matapos isilang ang anak, walong buwan na ang nakararaan.
Kung ang ibang nanay ay postpartum depression, siya naman ay nakaranas ng postpartum anxiety kung saan ibinahagi niya sa kaniyang vlog nito lamang para sa pagdiriwang ng Mother’s Day.
“I wouldn’t say I had postpartum depression. But there is something that nobody ever talk to me about. And I only realized what it was in one of my mom groups when somebody opened up about it. And this was way after I gave birth, and that is postpartum anxiety,” simula nito.
Sinabi rin niyang bago pa ang panganganak ay nagkaroon na rin siya ng anxiety. Gayunpaman, maayos naman ang kaniyang pagbubuntis. Ngunit iba na raw talaga ‘pag andiyan na mismo ang bata.
“Before I ever gave birth and got pregnant, I already had anxiety. I would say I had a pretty chill pregnancy, so I stopped thinking about things that worried me. But it’s different kapag nandiyan na talaga ‘yung baby and I am a worry wart. So that has been my struggle. My mind takes me to places na hindi na talaga normal, honestly.”
Madalas din daw siyang ni-ne-nerbyos nang wala namang dahilan kung kaya naman tila pagod na pagod daw siya lagi.
“And I would just get so nervous, so stressed, so anxious over nothing, and it would get me so drained, physically drained, because when you become mentally drained, you become physically drained as well. And I’d be tired almost every day just because my mind was racing. Ang dami kong iniisip na parang napakaimposible namang mangyari.”
“My mind just comes up with different scenarios na sa totoo lang, masasabi mong praning na talaga. Pero ‘yun eh. That’s what I was struggling with,” dagdag ni Coleen.
“It’s so easy for other people the brush it off. One of my elders, sinabi niya na, ‘When I gave birth, hindi pa uso ‘yung postpartum postpartum na ‘yan. I didn’t have postpartum, I didn’t have the time, I didn’t have the energy to go through something like that.’”
“And in my mind I was like ‘Yeah, I’m pretty sure that it already existed.’ It’s just the nobody really had the name for it at that time,” pahayag niya ukol dito.
